Who I am

Hi, I am Merel! I am studying cello with Geert De Bièvre at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven. Cello is my great passion by which I bring music to life! Because I am very eager to learn, I regularly follow masterclasses with well-known cellists.
I already followed masterclasses with Maria Kliegel, Pieter Wispelwey, Roel Dieltiens, Johannes Krebs, Raphaël Bell and Tom Landschoot. 

I play cello in LUCA Philharmonic orchestra, LUCA Chamber Orchestra, LUCA String ensemble, Accademia della Speranza, and in various other orchestras as a freelancer. Likewise, I regularly play the cello at special occasions, such as receptions, symposiums, etc. 
With great enthusiasm I give private cello lessons to children and adults who want to start playing cello. 

I play on a marvellous cello a ‘Jérôme Thibouville- Lamy’, constructed in 1880 Mirecourt,  France.
